Greetings, fellow marketers: Just a brief note on a couple of
subjects. First of all, Nick Hooper received a lot of calls and

The other thing is that I want you to understand positioning.
The more I look at the marketing activities, collateral materials,
brochures and websites of most companies, I'm struck by the
fact that they are persisting in one of what I call the
"Big Marketing Illusions". The big marketing illusion
is that people want to hear all about you. They don't. So when
you want to describe your services -- stop! Ask yourself if you
would want to hear someone drone on in a self-serving way about
their self, their company, their honesty and integrity, etc.
You would not!
The trick to positioning is "engineering perceptions". How
do you get someone to perceive you the way you want? Not by
TELLING them, that's for sure. The only way I know that works
is to lead them to conclude certain things about you. That's
positioning.
